Redpoint Launches New Safety Badge at Autodesk University to Improve Construction Workforce Safety and Productivity
Redpoint showcases the new Redpoint B3 Safety Badge for industrial construction, designed to help workers stay safe in hazardous environments and provide real-time visibility into jobsite activity.
Las Vegas, NV, November 30, 2015 – Redpoint Positioning Corp., a developer of first-to-market GPS-like indoor-positioning solutions, announces the Redpoint B3 Workforce Safety Badge. With Redpoint’s Indoor GPS solution, general contractors in industrial, commercial, and civil construction industries can enable zone-based hazard alerts for workers, generate work-flow analytics, and obtain detailed visibility into workforce activity. Redpoint is featuring its Indoor GPS solution with the B3 Workforce Safety Badge at BIM City is Booth #403 at Autodesk University.
Unlike traditional personnel ID badge solutions, the Redpoint B3 provides high-precision indoor location information for people and assets within the construction jobsite, where traditional GPS solutions do not work. “We know that worker safety is a top priority in the construction industry. Safety is greatly improved with worker alerts for clearly defined hazard zones and keep out areas. At the same time, improving labor efficiency is imperative to ensuring profitable projects for builders. Productivity will be dramatically improved with visibility into the flow of materials and workforce activity across a job site. Capturing worksite activities at the present moment and over time provides valuable insights for improving efficiency. This is what Redpoint’s B3 with Indoor GPS solution does,” said Redpoint CEO Antti Korhonen.
The Redpoint B3 is a compact, wearable ID badge that uses Redpoint’s Indoor GPS platform to pinpoint its real-time location with up to 8” accuracy. It includes audible and visible alerts for hazard warnings, an emergency call button, and a text display for communications. A Bluetooth interface enables connection to smartphones and tablets for BIM navigation and other context-aware applications.
“ There’s been a lot of focus on statistics like construction’s drop in productivity over the past few decades, but the most glaring to me is the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s* average of three fatalities per workday,” said Jim Quanci, senior director, Autodesk Developer Network. “It’s great to see companies direct the disruptive powers of technology at an important need in our industry. Technologies like the Redpoint B3 help address both the profitability and people variables in the equation.”
